CONTEMPORARY MASONRY DESIGNMasonry is a part of the historical building fabric of virtually every village in the world. At Limaçon Design, our practice has been influenced by different traditions, from Catalan vaulting, to Nubian construction, to early Modernist shell construction. We take the general philosophy that vernacular (local) innovation has the most embedded technical complexity and fitness for local culture and ecologies, however hundreds or even thousands of years of "technology exchange" has given contemporary architects a broad palette of tools for thoughtful, local intervention. By harnessing the intelligence of local construction, we can bring a new level of design intention to climate change resilience.
